Mathematics and Music

While an undergraduate at Oberlin College, I was also interested in music (including spending all 4 years as a percussionist in the marching band). During my final semester, I designed a directed reading for myself on group theory in atonal music theory - it culminated in my musical composition Rotations. This piece is based on rotations of an octahedron inscribed in the unit sphere and was inspired by Stockhausen's KlavierstĂĽcke XI. For more, please check out the score or slides from my talk:
